In the last ten years, Myrtle
Beach has become synonymous with something other than golf, and
that is country music. Yes, Myrtle Beach has become a gathering place
for fans of country music. With Myrtle Beach becoming a popular spot
with families for vacations, some suitable night time activities needed to be added. So family music shows began to show up in Myrtle
Beach’s beautiful theaters.
Since then Myrtle Beach has grown into one of the most popular places
for country music lovers. Myrtle Beach has ten different theaters
to fulfill your need for great country music.
Country music first appeared in Myrtle Beach in 1986 when the Carolina Opry was opened by Calvin
Gilmore. The Opry made so mush money that Gilmore opened two more
shows, which since have been added to the Opry turning it into a two
hour show.
The Success of the Opry led to the opening of several other venues.
Together all these places would turn Myrtle
Beach into one of the most popular and diverse places to vacation and enjoy country music. The Carolina Opry itself is housed
in a beautiful elegant theater with a capacity of up to 2,200 people.
Some of the other successful theaters include The Gatlin Brothers
Theatre, The Dixie Stampede, and Ronnie Milsap’s theater. Each
theater has its own little bit of flare. The variety of great shows
and other activities in Myrtle Beach certainly make it a great place
for a country music lover to visit, spending their days out and about
with the opportunity for a different show every night.
