Country Music in Myrtle Beach

In the last ten years, Myrtle Beach has become synonymous with something other than golf, and that is country music. Yes, Myrtle Beach has become a gathering place for fans of country music. With Myrtle Beach becoming a popular spot with families for vacations, some suitable night time activities needed to be added. So family music shows began to show up in Myrtle Beach’s beautiful theaters.

Since then Myrtle Beach has grown into one of the most popular places for country music lovers. Myrtle Beach has ten different theaters to fulfill your need for great country music.

Country music first appeared in Myrtle Beach in 1986 when the Carolina Opry was opened by Calvin Gilmore. The Opry made so mush money that Gilmore opened two more shows, which since have been added to the Opry turning it into a two hour show.

The Success of the Opry led to the opening of several other venues. Together all these places would turn Myrtle Beach into one of the most popular and diverse places to vacation and enjoy country music. The Carolina Opry itself is housed in a beautiful elegant theater with a capacity of up to 2,200 people.

Some of the other successful theaters include The Gatlin Brothers Theatre, The Dixie Stampede, and Ronnie Milsap’s theater. Each theater has its own little bit of flare. The variety of great shows and other activities in Myrtle Beach certainly make it a great place for a country music lover to visit, spending their days out and about with the opportunity for a different show every night.
